"It is not death that a man should fear but he should fear never beginning to live" - Marcus Aurelius
This week's Love Your Bodd guest experienced most of her life not TRULY living. She did everything right. She was going through her checklist of life and she went to college, she got herself the perfect job, next on the list was to find a husband… luckily she was also able to do that! However, she's had to learn to let go of the next step in the progression of life....
1 in every 8 women have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy. That's 12% of women. That's a lot of women. (Resources Below)
Katie reached out to me about her infertility and pregnancy loss because she wants other women to know that they are not alone. She has a story to tell and she's got some great advice for other women who may be struggling as well.
Her story is unique though because unfortunately as a child, Katie was bullied about her weight which became a massive factor in her every day life. A life-long struggle. When she found out she was having trouble getting pregnant, she blamed it on the weight. She had a hard time connecting to her body. She slipped into massive depression.
To hear how Katie got out of it, how she is truly LIVING LIFE NOW, listen to her story today!! I'm so proud of her vulnerability, her willingness to share something so intimate with my listeners. I know you'll love her for it as well!

"Freakin' push yourself, work hard, and dream big 'cause your potential is limitless and anything is possible," - Rachel Ngom, this week's brilliant Love Your Bodd guest.
This week, Heather remotely interviewed a former collegiate athlete who has been through many ups and downs with her body. She's tall, which has its own pros and cons. It came in handy when she played volleyball - her team won the junior olympics her senior year of high school! - but her height always left her insecure. She's had rib injuries, adrenal fatigue, and lost muscle mass but Rachel has never given up. Over time, she came to realize that fitness and her health is a journey. As long as she is consistent and persistent, she can do anything! She preaches balance and has given up on the "all or nothing" mentality because it really doesn't help in the end.
Rachel wrote a cookbook! Check out Keto(ish) here!

Have you ever struggled with identity? Who you are at your core? It's a common process we go through growing up - figuring out who you are. Sometimes it's circumstance, culture, or something beyond our control that shapes us. Sometimes we try very hard to shape ourselves. Like Shelby says in this episode, "it's a constant journey"... only she playfully likes to put her journey on her head - with hair color!
In this week's interview, Heather chats with a long time friend - who is now a cosmetologist - about her identity.
Shelby and Heather get into some pretty touchy subjects: depression, anxiety, police brutality, and loneliness just to name a few. In this episode, Shelby opens up about how being in the arts was always a safe space for her. One of the major ways she grew confidence was through her singing and her skill development in coloring hair.

Our past can have a large impact on our future. Things that happened when we were young can have a huge effect on how we behave in our adult lives. What you've been through does not define you. It shouldn't hold you back. It's sad and hard but things happen to us that are out of our control. What we can control is how we react to it and let it mold us.
Alex's advice? GET THE HECK OVER IT!!! And she's NOT talking "put on your big girl pants and get over it" - she's talking "address the issue head on and don't let it fester." Hence the title of the episode.
The more we sweep our problems under the rug, the more it will take to get over once it comes to the surface. And it WILL come to the surface. Pretending you don't have problems doesn't make them go away.
In this episode, Alex and Heather talk very intimately about a lot of touchy subjects: what it's like growing up with messed up parents, what it's like to have an eating disorder, what it's like to be a survivor of sexual assault, how to deal with, get over, and talk about those issues. And that's the most important thing: talking about it. Start with someone you trust.
Here are some resources if you need to talk to someone.

Wanna have a giggle fest this week while getting deep in some topics about perfectionism, comparing yourself to others, weight-loss, and sexuality? That's exactly what Heather and Brian do in this week's episode of Love Your Bodd.
Brian is a fighter. He masks his imperfections by finding something to excel at. He's also really good at the comparison game and has recently come to some revelations about how to overcome these feelings. He gives some great advice on finding self worth and being THE BEST YOU. Which is his life mission for himself as well as in his acting and coaching businesses. He is constantly looking for ways to grow and become the best version of himself. His passion is helping others do the same which is why he was a perfect candidate to interview.
"Wherever you are, don't give up" - Brian James.
He brings up a lot in this episode on self-help so here are some links to his mentions.
A book that really helped Brian discover that he CAN and SHOULD fail is Failing Forward by John C. Maxwell. Here's a link. It's also available on Amazon, Kindle, and Audible.

FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC!!! But it's not easy. Growing up, it can be hard to make friends, especially if you spend some time moving and changing schools. Find your tribe. Find the people who make you happy. Like the people who like YOU!
Trying to fit it and conform to what is "cool" or what the media shows us is "right" will lead to very shallow friendships and loneliness. Embrace who you are and what you want in your relationships and the right people will find you. But that doesn't mean it's not hard work.
In this Episode, Heather talks with Grace about making friends, fleeting friendships, and cultivating life-long friends. How do you know who is meant to be in your life? Who puts in the work? Who lifts you up and balances you out? It's all about the two-way communication. You've got to be willing to have those hard talks if it comes down to it.

In this Love Your Bodd Episode, Heather opens up about taking risks and fear of rejection. It's hard to take those big leaps of faith into the unknown but LIFE BEGINS AT THE END OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE, PEOPLE!
That's what this episode is all about. The possibility that you might fail. Coming out the other side a more confident person. Taking the risks that allow you to live your life to the fullest.
It's so easy to live in comfort. I like my boring job. I like my mediocre partner. I'm okay with the amount of money I make. But wouldn't it be so much more exciting if we were doing something we LOVED. Something we LIVED FOR?! And ASKED for what we know we DESERVE?
You deserve a better life. Time to take more risks!!

Love Your Bodd received it's first letter from a STRANGER! In the intro, Heather explains why this meant so much to her. SELF DOUBT IS SO REAL, Y'ALL.
This week on Love Your Bodd, Heather interviews a chika with a very similar story to her own. Sabrina opens up about her weight fluctuation, depression, and turning to food for comfort. Food is still a struggle for her but that doesn't mean she's not healthy!
Another important topic Sabrina opens up about is how you can become obsessed with "being healthy." Working out TOO MUCH. Eating the same strict meals day in and day out. She encourages people to shop around and find what works for them and to make it FUN and not a chore. And to not torture yourself and your body by obsessively working out. She had her wake up call though, which you will hear about.

Self Doubt? Normal. Wanting to give up? Double normal. In this episode, Heather chats with this week's guest, Laura, about how you are stronger than you think you are. It's about pushing past limits, pushing through grief, coming to terms with weight gain, weight loss, embracing who you are, and doing the things you love because they MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD.
Laura has been through A LOT. She's one crazy strong woman who is striving to improve every day. She is also an open book and enjoys sharing the things she's been through with the hopes it will help someone else! She takes listeners through her dark days, explains how she overcame her grief, and also explains how when one door closes, another door opens - and sometimes it's impossible to recognize that open door in the moment.

Rise Up In Love Part III
Heather starts off this episode with a tangent about the scale. THROW IT AWAY! She then butchers this beautiful JK Rowling Quote:
"I mean, is ‘fat’ really the worst thing a human being can be? Is ‘fat’ worse than ‘vindictive’, ‘jealous’, ‘shallow’, ‘vain’, ‘boring’ or ‘cruel’? Not to me; but then, you might retort, what do I know about the pressure to be skinny? I’m not in the business of being judged on my looks"
This episode is in collaboration with the Rise Up In Love project! Heather finally had the chance to sit down with creator, Crystal Rose, to talk about her inspiration and the mission of Rise Up In Love. They talk about how it's always possible to imagine something and watch your dreams come true. They talk about being little chubby dancers and Crystal brings something to light about Heather's childhood that BLOWS HER MIND. The overall theme of the episode is to celebrate love and celebrate who you are because we are all kind of a big deal and we all deserve to be celebrated.
In her scale tangent, Heather starts with this Instagram post from Pink!

This month, Love Your Bodd is partnering with Rise Up in Love NYC showcasing the beautiful couples of the Rise Up in Love Project.
In this episode, guest host Ebony Short (from the "You Can't Please Everyone" and Gal Gang episodes) interviews Michael - a gay man who is exploring his feminine energy, overcoming his dark place, and who simply wants to celebrate life. The two get pretty deep with talk about overcoming self-hatred to love the dark parts of yourself because that truly makes you who you are.
Micheal has a blue energy that he celebrates and showcases every day. Listen to hear the origin story behind blue and why it means so much to him. This episode is a raw exploration into humanity thanks to Michael's willingness to be so open and vulnerable. Listen with an open mind and an open heart!

This month, Love Your Bodd is dedicating it's episodes to the beautiful couples from the project Rise Up in Love NYC. There is just so much content and so much to celebrate that host Heather could not pack it into one episode.
Speaking of hosts, we have a guest host for this episode! Rise Up in Love Part I is hosted by Ebony Short (from the "You Can't Please Everyone" and Gal Gang episodes) and she does a fantastic job carrying out the Love Your Bodd mission. She is great at digging deeper as well as celebrating and soaking in all the information these beautiful people have to offer. Plus, it's fun to mix things up!
In this episode you'll hear about why these couples were so interested in participating in the project. Our featured interview is with the very lovely and eloquent man who talks about loving and taking care of himself so that he can be on this planet and love his partner a little longer. He also talks to us about relationships both with food AND with humans. There are many analogies that are exchanged based on food and people. For example, listen to hear how he treats new relationships the same way he treats a giant bar of chocolate! The episode is delicious with insight.

There is SO MUCH happening in the Love Your Bodd Universe right now! But before we get into all that, let's talk about this weeks guest, Jose. Jose was a victim of bullying when he was younger. Luckily, it rarely ever got physical, but as he and Heather discuss, the hurtful words had a deep impact on him into adulthood. He only recently came to a realization that believing IN YOURSELF, instead of believing those hurtful words, is what really matters. His message is to Believe in and invest in yourself, know that you are worth it. He even has a tattoo that says "worth it" to remind himself every day.

"Oldest Child with One Leg" - that's how this week's guest on Love Your Bodd describes how she got her go-getter-headstrong attitude. She's a boss. She does and gets what she wants. She doesn't let ANYONE or ANYTHING stand in her way... but she has had to overcome a lot to gain that mentality. One of her biggest and ongoing obstacles is HER OWN MOTHER. Could you imagine? Host, Heather, digs deep into Rebekah's upbringing and together the uncover some pretty dark and deep stuff. Luckily, Rebekah is newly aware of these issues and is able to discuss them with ease.
This episode is about truly embracing who you are, especially the parts of you that you cannot change. When you don't let yourself be the victim, you have no choice but to thrive.

Your host, Heather Boddy, has been feeling A LOT the past couple of weeks. So, she wrote a letter to herself and her listeners about being/feeling insecure and how she doesn't always practice what she preaches! Which is why she decided to share these insecurities with you. She starts with her weight gain/loss story and moves into why she even started this podcast in the first place. She then shares the words of encouragement that she writes for herself when she is feeling ugly, low, insecure, and un-in-love with herself.

Did you know that BOYS also JUST WANNA HAVE FUN? And by "have fun" we mean they also just want to be comfortable in their own skin and not have a filter in a dating app say that if they aren't a certain height or race, this girl won't even LOOK at their profile?!
In this episode of Love Your Bodd, Heather talks to a group of men, whose voices you have heard in previous episodes, about the things that make them feel insecure. You won't be surprised by some of the conclusions they come to - such as a 6ft tall white male not being as insecure as a 5'8" brown one. Or how acutely aware men are of how much worse women have it when it comes to media representation.
You will be surprised by some of the other things they talk about though. What motivates them, what makes them feel unworthy, who were their first celebrity crushes, and SO. MUCH. MORE.

Could you imagine walking into a crowded room and having all eyes fixed on you in judgement, wonder, and fear? That's what happens to this week's guest DAILY.
In this episode of Love Your Bodd, Heather interviews professional basketball player, photographer, and all around good guy, Rodney Epps. As a very tall (we are talking 6'8") Dominican/Black man, he shares with us how the aura of a room changes whenever he walks in. And how he LOVES that moment when people settle in and realize he isn't going to ruin their night. Can you imagine?
This episode is less about body image and WAY more about racism, sexism, stereotypes, and overcoming your situation. Rodney isn't shy. He talks baby mama drama, life regrets, and even jail time. He opens up about trying to gain self control and get back on track playing basketball, get custody of his daughter, and cutting the people who use him out of his life. He's torn between the "street world" and his world of "corporate success" and he shares all of it with YOU!

See that title? Be more than a collection of status indicators! That is how this fantastic man, Raja Burrows, talks! In this episode of Love Your Bodd, Heather chats with this intelligent, recently WOKE man about his many recent discoveries based on identity and his status as a man of color in the United States. He inversely also acknowledges his privilege as a male being raised by a white family. It's a fascinating episode discussing both race and fitness as a status symbol and how "The System" aka "Society" rewards you for fitting into what is "ideal." Unlike any episode Heather has done so far, Raja brings an intellectual breakdown of how our identities are affected by society as a whole. Well done, Raja!

Hi-dee-hey, do we have a special episode this week. It's the first ladies of Love Your Bodd all together in ONE ROOM! Heather calls them the "Gal Gang" because she likes alliteration and wants to showcase how badass these chicks are. In this interview Heather chats with the 4 beautiful women whose voices you have already heard: Jessica Jain, Kati Frazier, Rachel Lauria, and Ebony Short! Except this time they are all discussing together in one room and may or may not be drinking mimosas.
If you want to hear a diverse group of women talk about body image, this is the episode for you. They cover everything from bra size to (lack of) prom dates. It gets a little serious too talking about male gaze the possible need to cut negative people from your life. It's hard out there for a chick. Listen to Gal Gang discuss it.

In this episode of Love Your Bodd, host Heather interviews her partner in crime: Ebony Short. Heather and Ebony do so much together that people have coined them as "Ebony and Ivory." They hate this for a MULTITUDE of reasons and would much prefer being called Peanut Butter and Chocolate, please. This is because Heather is nuts and a little bit brown and Ebony is REAL sweet but has a bitter side like Chocolate. It's the most accurate thing really.
Ebony is a fashion designer so she and Heather talk lots about how the way you dress represents who you are. Do you hide behind your clothing or use it to make a statement? What is your style? Why does it even matter?
It's a fun interview covering everything from breast size to TOTALLY selling out in the fashion industry. Ebony drops some truth bombs about working behind the scenes in the casting world that will BLOW YOUR MIND.
Due to an audio glitch, Heather's microphone had to be turned off mid interview. You can still hear everything, she just sounds a little far away. Rather than ignore it and have listeners thinking, "why?" we thought it would be important to mention.

In this Episode of Love Your Bodd, Heather gets real about her lack of knowledge when it comes to the human body. Adipose? Isn't that from Doctor Who? No? Cool.
She also has a fantastic chat with actor, artist, and fitness ninja, Brian Crowley! What do they talk about? Balance. Juggling. Getting Naked. The usual. It's a great episode about slowly implementing new things into your life instead of overwhelming yourself with ALL OF THE THINGS. And how you are ALWAYS going to be a work in progress. So just be happy with the work.
