In Love Your Bodd, Heather Boddy sits down with artists, activists, health & fitness professionals and more, to discuss body image and how our insecurities make us who we are. The lack of representation in the arts and media is overwhelming. It's time to hold up a mirror to society and talk about how it can affect us. Don't be so hard on yourself. Easier said than done, huh? Especially this time of year when we are expected to behave a certain way: cheerful, successful, all put together. There is so much pressure to be "perfect." It's an internal struggle that we face every day. Well... Erin Simon is here to tell you it's okay to let go of that pressure.

Her way of letting go came from a diagnosis of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). From this diagnosis she learned how to take care of her body by using health as an internal "preventative measure" rather than as something aesthetic or external. 

"I stopped thinking of fitness and how I was eating in terms of like, 'oh, because I want to look a certain way or stay on top of my appearance or whatever.' It changed from that to being, 'well, I need to manage what's going on in my body.'"

The Holidays can be a trying time for many people. Time with family can be daunting. Being surrounded by food can be overwhelming. Getting out of whack with travel can be unsettling. There are many ways our mental and physical health can waiver during the Holidays and I'm here to talk to you about the ways you can get through it.

  • emotional eating and mentality around food during this time of year - "temptation" & "deprivation"
  • trusting yourself and listening to your body about what you need
  • family pressure to eat as well as family judgement on what you eat and how to handle the comments they may make
  • standing up for yourself and for others
  • mental health and sticking to your routine/what makes you feel good
  • separating food from "good"/"bad" and "reward"/"punishment"
  • wearing clothes that make you feel confident and badass
  • how to handle the possible "guilt" you may feel from indulging

So, I need to allow myself to have whatever thoughts are coming naturally, but, once I do I need to choose to replace those accusations or those negative thoughts with affirmations. This episode is full of wonderful words of encouragement,  wisdom, and tools on how to be more kind to your mind, body, and soul.

The next couple of episodes are incredibly special! I have Caitie, James, Erin, & Katie of the inclusive fitness non-profit F.I.T.4All. I had to break this interview into TWO PARTS because that's how much AWESOME-NESS these four incredible individuals brought to the table!

IN F.I.T.4All PART I you will learn all about the F.I.T.4All mission and how it has evolved. This non-profit organization is dedicated to making fitness more inclusive, sustainable, and FUN for everyone! The goal is to give you the tools you need to live your "fit-est" life by your own definition. They focus on a holistic wellness approach with a 3 step process - Fuel, Integrate, & Thrive! That's what the F.I.T. in F.I.T.4All stands for!
